Energy companies have failed to pass on realistic price cuts on the back of large drops in their raw materials. Profits at SSE are at an all time high, at the same time energy costs are at their all time high for the consumer, despite the falls in oil prices recently.
Some energy companies are reducing gas prices at an insultingly low rate, in classic Marie- Antoinette style, knowing or caring little for the plight of normal British families suffering since the 2008 downturn, ‘Qu’ils mangent de la brioche’ the directors at our energy firms are probably roaring out loud around their lavish board tables today.
Conclusion, the only way to reduce costs, if you have the resources, is to invest in the shares and take profits, offsetting the dividends against your total energy bill. These companies will continue to reap massive profits from high charges and have no intention of reducing consumer costs any time soon. Government policies on green commitments are of no help to consumers either, these will keep prices high for the foreseeable future.
