Jaguar’s new XS baby saloon should be revealed by the end of the year but we have all the news ahead of its launch
Jaguar has confirmed it will launch a new saloon car – believed to be called the XS – which will arrive in showrooms next year. The all-new model will be up against some of the most accomplished compact executive saloons on the market, including the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class.
It’s likely the XS will spawn several bodystyles, such as coupe and estate models to help it compete in the compact executive market. Under the skin, Jaguar has also confirmed a new all-aluminium iQ architecture, first previewed on the Jaguar C-X17 SUV, will be used. The lightweight material will help reduce overall weight, improving efficiency and boosting performance.

Jaguar tends to preview its new models with a near-production concept, however, Head of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum, revealed to Auto Express: “There won’t be a concept. You’ll see it [production version] for the first time, probably this year.”
The Paris Motor Show, which takes place in September, is a likely venue for the official reveal of the baby saloon
